The Rating service operation will return DHL EXPRESS product capabilities (products, value added services and estimated delivery time) and your associated DHL EXPRESS Account rates.
YOU CAN HELP THEM TO CREATE A SHIPMENT
The Shipment service Operation allows you to create complete DHL EXPRESS shipments which includes the shipping labels, optional customs documentation and pickups together with value added services such as Insurance. A Shipment update function can also be used to add additional pieces to an already created shipment throughout the day.
PROVIDE THEM RELIABLE INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR PARCEL'S WHEREABOUTS
The Tracking service Operation is used to inform you about the status of your in-transit shipments, based on the valid DHL EXPRESS Waybill Number/Shipment Reference/Piece ID. The resulting response will provide tracking events advising the whereabouts and status of your valued shipment.
LET YOUR CUSTOMERS REQUEST A PICKUP
The Pickup service Operation is used to create courier Pickup requests globally. A Dispatch Confirmation number will be returned which can be used for future reference when contacting DHL EXPRESS.
YOUR CUSTOMERS' PARCELS ARE IN GOOD HANDS
The Proof of Delivery service operation is used to retrieve an electronic proof of delivery in pdf format of a shipment that has been delivered.

Get Access
To use this API, your organization must to have an active customer account with DHL Express.
To become a DHL Express customer:
- Request a customer account.
Go to the DHL Express customer account request page.
Complete the form and click Submit. - The Express team will contact you set up your account. They will ask you for some information on your requirements.
- When your request has been approved, you can use the get started link on this API Portal to request access to the DHL EXPRESS API Sandpit environment to test your development.
Authentication
Your DHL EXPRESS consultant will provide you with access credentials to the DHL EXPRESS API and assist in technical queries you may have. The authentication type is basic and are RESTFUL services.
Environments
- The DHL EXPRESS Sandpit Environment will provide you a daily limit of 500 Service invocations for your access credentials. This should be used to test your integration development with DHL EXPRESS
- The DHL EXPRESS Sandpit Environment has formal SLA's against it to ensure that support is at hand with availability.
