The API Returns allows to order return labels for planned return shipments from your customers.
It thereby enables business customers of DHL to seamlessly implement the label creation process for return labels into their own workflows, for example integrated into their own website.

As previously announced, the deprecated Geschäftskundenversand (GKV) [Business Customer Shipping] SOAP API v2 will be deactivated on May 31, 2025.
Therefore, shipment orders via this interface will no longer be possible in a few weeks! This is the final reminder for the urgently needed transition!
- If you use a software solution to order shipments – such as JTL or Xentral – please contact the manufacturer to switch to a new version in time before the shutdown date at the end of May 2025.
- If your systems are directly connected to the API and not via a third-party software, it is necessary for you to switch from the outdated version 2 of the Geschäftskundenversand (GKV) SOAP API to the new DHL Parcel DE Shipping RESTful API. Our REST API is available at DHL Parcel DE Shipping REST API in the DHL Group API Developer Portal. Here you will also find other helpful information for your transition.
Please note: We will also discontinue the development of version v3 of the Geschäftskundenversand (GKV) SOAP API. This API is scheduled to be decommissioned on May 31, 2026.

Browse API catalog:
Filtering APIs: If you browse through the API catalog you can use the left side filter navigation to enclose the shown APIs.
If you know the Division in which the product your API servs lies, please check the Division box to filter the APIs (e.g. Post & Parcel Germany). Another common way is to filter APIs by Service Type (e.g. Location / Shipping / Transportation / Tracking).
APIs Business Use Cases: Now, that you have filtered the APIs to a smaller amount, you should have a closer look at the API Teaser. The section "Best for" explains the business use case of the API and you'll find also the geographical location, where the API is available. You can find even more information of the API use case. After clicking on the API teaser, the API reference page opens, where you can find detaild information about the API under Get Started/Scope
In order to harmoize and modernize our API landscape for DP DHL overall, we are currently transferring the old Post and DHL Entwicklerportal APIs and funcionalities to the new Developer Portal.
